How do Recruiters Manage Hundreds of Job Applications?

This post was originally written by Joanne Acri on LinkedIn

I’ve been asked “How do you get through every single application when hundreds of candidates apply?” It’s not easy, that’s for sure!

A lot of in-house recruiters (and hiring managers), like those employed by large companies, use an applicant tracking system (ATS); a software that helps to organize, filter, and manage applications.

An ATS can scan an applicants resume for key skills and qualifications that align with the job description, creating a quicker and more efficient hiring process.

BUT...the AI isn’t perfect.

Sometimes an ATS might reject a desired candidate even though they possess qualities that would make them a good fit, just because they don’t match certain keywords.

According to a study from Harvard Business Review, 88% of employers felt qualified, high-skilled candidates were vetted out by an ATS because they did not match the exact criteria established by the job description.

At Junction Collective, we go through Every. Single. Application. We also find people who aren't looking for a role but might consider one. We contact those who are a fit and those who might be close to a fit for our open roles. We think the human touch is key and while the technology definitely helps us, it's not a replacement.
